After an early and saddening end to our 19/20 season we are grateful to be back and racing. We have maintained our 18 Harness & 6 thoroughbred meetings and look to open the Tote if there is a Melbourne Cup this year. Words I never thought I would ever say but these testing times have led to many firsts in sports now.
With the restart having the cloud hanging over the different stages of opening up, we have been a bit slow at organising the season, but we have some great ideas in the pipeline and are looking forward to making a great season. With the success of hosting community and social wellbeing awareness nights we are looking forward to these again. Movember was a great conversation starter and it raised funds for such a worthy cause.
The Twilight Markets were strongly supported by the community and will feature again this season.
All of these great events are such a wonderful chance for family, friends and work colleagues to come together and enjoy not only the horse racing but celebrate at our family friendly venue.
We have TABtouch back on board and appreciate their continuing support. This year they will sponsor both our Christmas Races and the Pacing Cup which is fantastic. We were disappointed to lose our Cup meeting back in March as we had tanked that meet to be THE biggest Pacing night on the Calendar. But in years to come it will be a talking point to have the Narrogin Pacing Cup photo with the Bunbury finishing post in the background.
Lion Nathan the sponsor of the $70,000 XXXX Gold Narrogin Cup are looking to rebrand their footprint on country racing and whispers are that we may be hosting the Iron Jack Cup on Sunday 7th February 2021, our Summer Race day. The fresh new name of this meet will hopefully inspire new interest and energy into the date.
The down time has given us the opportunity to do lots of little bits and pieces around the club. From the installation of floor coverings to improve the bottom building and soon the tower, to a new retaining wall that is currently underway out front of the John Higgins centre. The new viewing deck and fencing was undertaken due to OHS issues and will give a fresh new look to the home straight. We can’t wait to benefit from this new design that will revamp our dates and improve the functionality of the grassed area around the hall.
As you will notice on the membership form enclosed we are offering a 50% discount on membership for Season 20/21. Not only to make up for the loss of nearly half a season but also as a BIG thank you from the Club for your support.
AGM is set for Sunday 23rd August. Join up from 10am for brunch, then the meeting will start @11am
We always welcome feedback on what you would like to see or ideas for the club to work on, so please feel comfortable to have a chat to Cathi or the Committee.
