A new era in WA Racing began when Narrogin Racing held its official Launch Meeting on September 28th 2008. Narrogin Racing is the first club in WA to incorporate both Thoroughbred and Harness Racing. A big crowd, comprising of visitors from Perth and the surrounding area, gathered at Narrogin Racing to be a part of WA racing history.

The concept of Narrogin Racing began as early as February 2007 when Committees of both the Narrogin Harness Racing Club and the Narrogin Turf Club requested a meeting with Dianne Begg, Manager of Racing Development at RWWA, to discuss how best to administer the shared facilities at Narrogin Turf & Harness tracks.

It was out of this meeting that the idea of combining the clubs emerged. In April 2007 the concept was formally introduced when elected representatives from each Club formed a Joint Management Committee to discuss the advantages of combining the two Clubs.

A number of discussions were held, and in August it was decided that a Steering Committee should be established to prepare a formal approach to both the Members of each Club and to Racing & Wagering WA. It was decided to officially start trading on the first day of the racing industry’s new financial year, August 1, 2008

Christina Bosly-Pask was appointed Project Manager of the Steering Committee and her first task was to formally put in writing to Dianne Begg the intention to form a Dual Code Racing Club in Narrogin.
Soon afterwards the Steering Committee received a letter from the Operations Committee of RWWA outlining its support of the merger and providing a grant for financial assistance in establishing the new club.

A discussion paper was sent to members of both clubs in September 2007 outlining the concept and the progress to date and also the proposed structure of the new Club. It was proposed that the club should be structured similarly to other dual code horse racing clubs such as Kilmore and Yarra Valley in Victoria.

On November 19, 2007 a joint Special General Meeting of the Narrogin Turf Club and Narrogin Harness Racing Club was held to vote on the amalgamation. The members of both Clubs unanimously voted in favour of the amalgamation.
Soon afterwards Christine Bosly-Pask received a letter of congratulations from Dianne Begg on behalf of RWWA indicating its intention to support the Steering Committee in establishing the new club.
The next step for the new club was to appoint a suitable foundation Chairman and in December the club approached local solicitor Arthur Paternoster. The club needed someone who was community minded and who could steer the new club during its establishment. Arthur immediately accepted the offer and began the process of establishing the club as a corporation.

After much discussion with respect to naming the club it was officially incorporated as Narrogin Race & Pace Inc on 13th February, 2008. The club initially requested incorporation as Narrogin Racing; however, as this name was unavailable a decision was made that the club would be incorporated as Narrogin Race & Pace Inc and would trade as Narrogin Racing..
